The Ovascan is a rugged, rechargeable battery-operated electronic
instument used to detect and confirm ovulation in cows, mares,
miniature mares, and other mammal species. It has a detachable,
washable probe with a flexible coiled cable. Readings are displayed
on a digital LCD. The user maintains a chart to track fertility cycles.

Timing is everything
Do you know all you should about ovulation? Ovulation is the release
of a mature egg. The egg travels to the fallopian tubes where it
waits to be fertilized. The sperm is deposited in the vagina and
"swims" upstream to find the egg. This whole process takes
about 24 hours, so the sperm must be deposited at least a day
in advance of ovulation.
"Heat" can be observed before or after ovulation. You
cannot rely on visual indicators of heat to time conception.
